ColumbiaCares

Mission Statement

To group active participants in our fellowship geographically
and to provide training and structures for the groupings
that will enable participants to know one another
and to share joys and burdens.
The groups will promote, in particular, Columbia’s core values of
Constant Prayer, Authentic Community, and Intentional Caring.

Through ColumbiaCares we hope to enable members who live in a specific area to meet other members and provide a level of care in that area. If a member of a group falls ill, we want the entire group to know about this quickly and to take steps to meet the physical and emotional needs of that member. If a member needs prayer or experiences something that brings joy, we want the member to be able to share this with the group and to have the members join together in prayer or rejoicing. Each ColumbiaCares group will have a deacon tasked with coordinating care delivery through deacon-led ministry teams.

Anyone who is a member of Columbia will automatically be assigned to a ColumbiaCares group. Regular attendees will be assigned to a group upon request.

See the list for the deacon who cares for your zipcode.

Deacon Led Ministry Teams

Our core value of Gifted Servanthood tells us that “we are a congregation of people who serve God by exercising equally the gifts given us by the Holy Spirit: “every member a minister.”  Our deacons have formed deacon-led ministry teams, to help meet key areas of need in our congregation and provide opportunities for Columbians to exercise their spiritual gifts.  This will allow for a more wide-ranging, service-based ministry.  We are excited as we bring to life ways in which we will ALL carry Columbia’s mission statement to full reality.  We need Columbia members and attenders to join us on each team to make this work.   You are invited to come and serve where you will be filled with joy!

If you are interested in serving on one of these Deacon-led Ministry Teams, or want more information, contact Nancy Walker, 703 534-5700 x266,  email

Serving within your passion and gifts is the most rewarding way to serve.  If you don’t know your spiritual gifts, your areas of passion or what you would like to do, contact your deacon; or contact Linda Olson, 703 534-5740 x284, email; or Priscilla Stegenga, 703 237-4573, email.
